Exploitation as a driving force of life histor methods and empirical analyse

Today, fishing is the dominant source of mortality in most com fish stocks. Life-history theory predicts that, under most circum mortality at potential ages and sizes at maturation selects for ear deed, commercially exploited fish stocks often show trends towa tion. However, another plausible explanation exists: earlier matu reflect phenotypic plasticity. Because of this ambiguity in disent and evolutionary components of life history changes, understan phenotypic changes in exploited fish populations has been difficu developed new method for estimating probabilistic reaction norm at maturation is now helping to overcome this problem, and, in analysed so far, is suggesting that evolutionary components co served trends in age and size at maturation. In this paper we give probabilistic reaction norm method and describe the resulting pro cal case studies.
